Missoula County will reopen the Maclay Bridge west of Missoula this afternoon. Missoula County Public Works completed the necessary repairs to allow traffic back on the bridge, and engineering firm HDR has inspected the repairs. Crews started resurfacing the bridge with asphalt this morning, and it will reopen to traffic, bikes and pedestrians later this afternoon. Once open, the weight limit for the bridge will remain at 11 tons for now. The Montana Department of Transportation plans to complete an inspection later this month to evaluate that limit. Though the repairs will allow the County to reopen the one-lane bridge, placed at its current location in 1953, these repairs are not intended as a long-term fix. Construction on a new bridge upstream that would connect South Avenue to River Pines Road is tentatively slated to begin in 2026. More information on the South Avenue Bridge is  online.  We know the bridge closure has been a major disruption, and we appreciate your patience as staff work to reopen it.

Maclay Bridge Update
Hello Target Range Families, We want to take a few minutes of your time to reflect on this past year and look ahead to the fall. Thank you for allowing us to serve your children over the past school year. It has been a pleasure. Looking ahead, we have some changes coming your way. We will reorganize the principal position to better serve our students at Target Range. Dan Ries, our current Assistant Principal, will move to the 5-8 Principal role. Barb Droessler will transition to first grade, and Kelly Chumrau, one of our current third-grade teachers, will become our PreK-4 Principal. This reorganization is designed to balance leadership duties more effectively between two principals, each focusing on distinct and critical stages of our student's educational journey. By aligning administrative roles with specific grade clusters, we aim to provide tailored support that meets our students' unique developmental, academic, and social-emotional needs at each stage of their education. Please click the links below to learn more about Dan and Kelly.
